Webinar Sept. 27 – Leading for Literacy

Supporting Evidence-Based Professional Learning for Middle and High School Educators

Everyone is welcome at this free webinar on Wednesday, September 27, 11am–1pm PDT. Participants will learn how to support evidence-based professional learning centered on improving student literacy in middle and high school. Whether you are an administrator, teacher leader, coach, or Curriculum & Instruction professional, this webinar will give you resources, examples and strategies to support ongoing inquiry and learning at your school or district.

WestEd’s Ruth Schoenbach, co-author of Leading for Literacy and Reading for Understanding, will be presenting along with two stellar educators and Reading Apprenticeship facilitators: Alicia Ross from Pennsylvania and Chris Van Ruiten-Greene from California. The team will give a brief introduction to disciplinary literacy and how it interacts with social emotional learning; they will describe how districts have supported ongoing professional learning and seen positive changes in student outcomes, and they will share their own experiences as classroom teachers and facilitators. Participants will receive and discuss chapters of Leading for Literacy.
