Writers’ Appreniceship
Writers’ Apprenticeship is a professional development model and instructional approach for middle school and high school English Language Arts and History/Social Studies educators. Designed to support both writing and culturally responsive teaching, Writing Apprenticeship transforms instruction to engage students in new ways of writing, thinking, talking, and reasoning in supportive classroom environments. Students are explicitly supported to build deep capacities for writing in the humanities. Teachers model discipline-specific writing skills, help students build writing strategies throughout the writing process, and support students in building confidence in leveraging the power of literacy for their own purposes.
