Middle School-High School What's New

Cognitive Dimension Online Course Launching Feb. 24th

Interested in learning more about developing approaches to help students learn to ask their own good questions? In helping students make connections as they read within and across texts and helping them visualize as they read a broad variety of texts?

The newest online professional learning course from Reading Apprenticeship on the Cognitive Dimension will launch Feb. 24th—a few spaces are still available. Reading Apprenticeship: Cognitive Dimension introduces an inquiry approach to specific strategies and metacognitive routines that increase students’ reading comprehension, collaboration and stamina for problem solving. Building on concepts from online and face-to-face introductory courses, this new course continues the Reading Apprenticeship’s field-tested approach to improving classroom teaching across ALL content areas. Reading Apprenticeship meets ESSA standards for Strong Evidence and is one of the few secondary school programs on the CASEL website, meeting their standards for integrating Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) with academic rigor.

The main course text, the landmark Reading for Understanding, provides clear, on-the-ground guidance, tools, and examples for improving student reading across secondary schools and colleges.
