Accomplish CLSD Goals with Our Help!

In 2019, the US Department of Education convened a Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) grant competition, ultimately awarding $118M+ to several states and outlying areas with goals to improve literacy in student populations (see list below). The grant recipients developed literacy plans, most of which include professional learning, and some of which include a vital focus on middle and high school grades.

As an evidence-based literacy program, Reading Apprenticeship is uniquely poised to work with states, districts and schools in a dynamic way. Several CSLD grant recipients (list below) include districts that have had success working with Reading Apprenticeship, including Galina, Alaska, California, as have Striving Readers awardees such as Maryland and Pennsylvania. These districts had cohesive, multi-year literacy plans that included components such as professional learning, coaching, networking, online learning communities, and Teacher Leader development.

If your state received a CLSD grant, we would welcome the opportunity to talk with you about how Reading Apprenticeship can accomplish your goals. Contact Sharon Saez, Partnership Development Director at ssaez@wested.org or (301) 997-1891 today!
